Students electrocuted while cutting off branches of hotels

Karimnagar: A 22-year-old last year engineering student was electrocuted while trimming branches at a private hotel in the outskirts of Thimmapur Mandal in Karimnagar district.
Hanamdla Vikas Reddy of the deceased is a final year student of BTECH (CSE) of the Jyothishmathi School of Technology and Sciences (JITS) and a native of Lyagalamarri Village, Jagtial District Pegadapalli Mandal.
According to local police, the student lives at the Sri Rama Hotel in Thimmapur Mandal. Innkeeper Santosh Rao instructed Vikas Reddy and another hotel companion to climb the tree and cut off the branches.
While on the mission, Vikas Reddy contacted the live wires running near the tree and fell from the tree after he was electrocuted and died on the spot.
Police have registered a case and sent the body to a government hospital for autopsy.
At the same time, after learning about this incident, a large number of JITS students gathered in the hospital to give final respect. The incident sparked anger from students who condemn unregulated private hotel insecurity and call for immediate government intervention.
