In the fall of 2023, Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bolton lives a busy lifestyle – dates, TV guest shooting, new records. But his daughters felt something was wrong. Bolton kept bowling on a family night after Thanksgiving, and suddenly fell off his chair.It seems that small events such as forgetfulness, nausea and falls have become early indicators of serious conditions.
His daughter Taryn explained that seeing his gait, they knew something was wrong with her father. She said she mentioned that everything that happened to Michael was strange, but not so shocking, and explained that they missed a lot.

Bolton was taken to the hospital after MRI recognized a headache from a brain tumor due to poor headaches. One report said the tumor was completely removed during the surgery and doctors later confirmed it to be glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive brain cancer. He reportedly underwent a second surgery in January 2024 after the infection.

Bolton completed chemotherapy and radiation by October. He needs MRIS every two months so that he can track relapses. Although his last scan was negative, the cancer often recurred.

Living with cancer and recovering

Glioblastoma is reported to occur in nearly 15,000 Americans each year, often leading to changes in behavior, speech, coordination, or memory. Dr. Ingo Mellinghoff, a neuroscientist at Bolton, added that the symptoms are subtle but cannot be ignored.
The disease and treatment affect Bolton’s memory, speech and mobility. The singer now spends his days meditating, playing golf and working out with a fitness coach. He also regained his singing skills with a vocal therapist.

Family support and meaning

The singer, who is recovering from home in Westport, is taking care of her daughter and six grandchildren. His family was behind them in the battle. His daughter Taryn mentioned that they were together.
