Trees were killed after falling after Automorikshaw during the Bangalore rain

A 45-year-old Autorickshaw driver died after slumped in a moving vehicle on Thursday. The incident occurred around 7.30 pm, near the bus shelter on Kathriguppe Main Road in Banashankari, South Bangalore.
The victim was identified as a resident of Ittamadu Mahesh. According to preliminary reports from the Bangalore City Police Department, Mahesh drove past the 43A bus stop when the tree suddenly fell down and crushed his car and trapped him inside.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, but Mahesh succumbed to the scene and was injured. An unnatural death has been registered and his family has filed a formal complaint with local police.
Officials from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said the Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) was deployed to the site shortly after the incident.
Senior BBMP official told Hindu: “We are coordinating with all departments to assess the damage and provide compensation to the families of the deceased in accordance with established guidelines.”
The city experienced a spell of moderate rain, accompanied by lightning and gusts, and the wind speed reached 17 knots. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that Bangalore will continue to rain to moderate until May 3.
In another case, a large tree fell on a parked car near a café in Coramangala. Fortunately, no one was inside the car at the time and despite the significant damage to the car, it was reportedly not injured.

Heavy rains have also caused flooding in several areas in southern Bengaluru, making underground passages and arterial roads difficult to drive.
The flooding near the Yelachenahalli subway station was severe, resulting in traffic disruption. BBMP officials added that as part of the emergency response operation, teams were dispatched to clear the gutters and remove fallen trees.
A total of 10 tree collapses were reported Thursday, according to data shared by BBMP.
