In an interview with Fox News, Vance made his first public comment on the Pahalgam attack and said: “We hope India will respond to this terrorist attack in a way that will not lead to wider regional conflict.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, a rising tension between the two countries. He asked Pakistani officials to cooperate in the investigation and work to ease tensions.

US State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received full support from the Donald Trump administration. She added that they have been communicating with the Indian and Pakistani governments.

India's measures after Pahargam attack

India lowered ties with Pakistan after the Pahargam attack and announced various diplomatic measures, including a moratorium on the Indian Waters Treaty, closing its airspace to Pakistan Airlines and closing the Atari-Waga border. Pakistan also suspended the Simla agreement.
