Harbhajan Singh slams R Ashwin’s limited role in IPL 2025 CSK Management

Chennai Super Kings has performed poorly this season in IPL. After only 2 wins and 8 losses, they were eliminated in the playoffs, putting them at the top of the list.
Legendary Indian deputy Harbhajan Singh expressed disappointment with Chennai Super Kings as he took the most of his experienced off-contender Ravichandran Ashwin in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Chennai Super Kings campaign in IPL Season 18 has gotten worse. The five-time champions found themselves uncontroversial in the playoffs, making them the first team to be eliminated this season. They only have two wins and eight losses and they are currently at the top of the league.
Despite being acquired by CSK for Rs 9.75 crore at the IPL 2025 Mega auction in November, Ravichandran Ashwin managed to secure five wickets. Harbhajan Singh criticized CSK for not using the spinner in the recent four-door Punjab Kings.
“Chennai did not choose the team based on the conditions. There was Noor Ahmad, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja against the Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings could have won the game. You didn't pay Rs 100 crore for Ashwin, Ashwin paid for Ashwin. I don't know he wasn't going to play.
He also noted that the franchise had underperformed, but ultimately only Ashwin was withdrawn from the team.
He added: “He is not the only one who hasn't performed. Others are still playing despite their average performance, but Ashwin quits the team. He should play against Punjab when the ball spins.”
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take over as Royal Challenger Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore this Saturday.
