Ponguleti launches Telangana Heatwave Action Plan

Hyderabad: Tax Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government has a responsibility to protect the public as temperatures and hot winds rise and hot winds across the state. He directed relevant departments to take strong preventive measures. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the heat wave would intensify until June, with the minister holding a review meeting with officials from 12 departments of the Secretariat on Friday.

To this end, Telangana National Disaster Management Agency has partnered with IMD to develop Heatwave Action Plan (HAP) in Telangana State – 2025. Each district has appointed a Nodal official. The Minister officially released the 2025 Heat Wave Action Plan during the meeting.

He said 588 of the 612 dominations were classified as affected by heat waves. The state government declared the heat wave a “state-specific disaster” on April 15. Pre-treatment for families of stroke victims has increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 4 lakh.

Srinivas Reddy said all measures should be taken to prevent the impact of heat waves on the public. However, in the event of an accidental death, the former Gratia payment should be paid immediately from a humanitarian perspective.

Labor welfare department to ensure shaded rest areas for rest, drinking water, ORS packages and sanitation and solid waste management personnel.

Arrange shelters, drinking water and publicity activities through public address systems and LED screens, local agencies and municipalities, at bus booths, markets, tourist attractions and places of worship.
