ventilators worth Rs 160 crore donate to the Gantt government hospital in Andhra Pradesh

To greatly promote the medical infrastructure, ventilators worth Rs 1,6 billion were donated to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Gontur under the auspices of the Indian Red Cross Society (3 May 2025). In addition, the 80th batch of alumni from Guntur Medical College (GMC) contributed Rs 29 lakh checks and promoted the inauguration of the upgraded ICU worth Rs 22 lakh.
The Union Minister for Rural Development and Communication Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Rural Development and Communication, provided tribute to the occasion as the chief guest, and was joined by local MLA Mohammed Naseer Ahmed and Guntur Mayor Kovelamudi Ravindra Babu (Nani).
The event was held inside the GGH house and saw Dr. Pemmasani’s official GGH logo, as well as donor Bhashyam Ramakrishna and other VIPs. The minister thanked all the philanthropists who contributed to equipment such as ventilators, air conditioners and ICU beds, including four newborns and six mobile ventilators, worth about Rs 2 crore.
Dr. Pemmasani praised the donors’ trust in the institutions and highlighted the major developments achieved through their support, such as the construction of service barriers at Thulasi Ramachandra Prabhu, the maintenance and restoration of elevators, and the establishment of an ophthalmic clinic.
“The Red Cross is a globally respected institution with a legacy of selfless service spanning centuries,” he noted. “Unlike other organizations that stand out from the founders, the Red Cross continues to thrive thanks to its unwavering commitment to public service.”
