More than 60 jackfruit varieties, including “Toobagere Red”, “Prakash Chandra”, “Rudrakshi”, “Shankar”, “Shankar”, “Siddu”, “Lalbagh Madhur” and “Ambali” and “Ambali”, are on display at the two-day Jackfruit Festival that begins Saturday.
Special attractions include red jackfruit varieties and roudrakshi or round barbecue. High-quality varieties of seedlings can also be sold. Value-added jackfruit products such as fries, ice cream, Halwa, dosa, biryani and Kababs showcase organic seeds such as mango and Jamun, as well as handicrafts in over 55 stalls.
Training courses on jackfruit cultivation, pest and disease management, and marketing were also conducted. A jackfruit competition scheduled on Sunday at 2pm for more information, visitors should contact Shanthakumar on 94487 74871.
