On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front (TRF) was considered the agent of Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let), claiming to be responsible for the attack, but later denied its involvement.
Both ministers discussed Russia-Indian cooperation and the deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan.
According to a statement from the Russian Federation, “In accordance with the Simla Agreement of 1972 and the Lahore announcement in 1999, the differences between New Delhi and Islamabad will be resolved by political and diplomatic means by bilateral political and diplomatic means.”
Following the attack, the Indian government announced measures, including closing the Atari border crossing, suspending the Sark visa exemption scheme for Pakistani citizens, giving them 40 hours to leave and reducing staff from the two countries' high commissions.
Jaishankar said on X that they discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack. “Its perpetrators, supporters and planners must be brought to justice. We also talked about our bilateral cooperation activities,” he added.
