Trump says orders for all movies produced abroad are “100% tariff”

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he is ordering new tariffs on all films outside the U.S. and claimed that Hollywood was “destroyed” by the trend of American film producers and studios working abroad. The news comes as the White House has been criticized for its aggressive trade policies that have caused Trump to impose a large number of tariffs on countries around the world.
“I am authorizing the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to immediately begin the process of imposing 100% tariffs on all films made on foreign lands,” he wrote on his Truth Social Platform.
Trump's position comes after China is the first to bear the brunt of China, with a brutal trade policy against the U.S. president on many commodities, and will reduce the number of American movies it imports last month.

“The U.S. film industry is dying rapidly. Other countries are offering various incentives to keep our film producers and studios away from the U.S.,” Trump wrote on Sunday.
“Hollywood and many other areas within the U.S. are being damaged,” he added, claiming that this poses a national security threat. The impact on the film industry – or how to get the tariffs exactly – has not been immediately clear.
