“Genie's Lamps is a little cooler”: Swiggy suspends pick-up and drop-off services in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, more cities
Swiggy suspended its door-to-door pickup and drop-off service elves in various cities in India, calling it a “small break”, which means the suspension is temporary.
Swiggy Genie operates in 70 cities in India, with most of them unavailable for services as the option is not found on the app. Users cannot access services in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, etc.
In some locations, the option is still available and a message appears on the screen saying “temporarily unavailable”.
There is no indication when the service will return online.
The development comes days after Swiggy strengthened its 10-minute food delivery service “bolts”.
Livemint has contacted a Swiggy spokesperson for details of the development. This article will be updated once we receive the official statement from the company.
Netizens are shocked, swiggy responds
While there is no official Swiggy comment, its social media handle has confirmed the suspension of Genie Services.
“It is currently closed due to operational restrictions,” it said.
Another user shared a screenshot showing that the Genie service was unusable to him.
“Ah, the elves are currently taking a break from their wishes, Suhas! But don't worry, we do hear your wishes, and while there is no ideal schedule yet to make Genie's return, our team is working hard, but our team will bring it back as soon as possible. We must make you work in time.”
It told another user: “The Elf's light is cooling down. Although we can't provide any specific information, please sit down and we will notify you in time.”

Swiggy said Friday that its 10-minute food delivery service “Bolt”, launched last October and now operates in more than 500 cities across the country.
Currently, at least 1 out of every 10 food delivery orders delivered using the “bolt” service.
Products are now available in over 500 cities in India.
“Bolt” focuses on restaurants with a 2km radius and uses minimal preparation time for food.
