A few days after the Pahargam terrorist attack in Jamu and Kashmir, a former sleeper cell member revealed that about 5-6 local agents were in contact with Rashkar terrorists who carried out the massacre. He added that without their help, Pahalgam attacks would not be possible. Kashmir residents serve two years in prison but have reformed. In an interview with India today, he said that sleeper cell members may have consulted a month ago and everything was planned in advance before the Baisaran Valley attacked tourists.

“If I were to attack in Srinagar, I couldn't just go in blindly. There would be no pahalgam attack without the help of the sleeper cell operator. How do I know how many soldiers were stationed there? Before the attack, I needed to scout the area. This is the sleeper team,” he said. “He further said that the sleeper cell's work is to provide intelligence for the Army movement, to provide food and other essentials to terrorists.

The former sleeper cell member said he has worked with terrorists for about 2-4 years. “I provided a lot of help – going out at night. Through me, a lot of attacks were carried out.” However, he was captured by security forces while trying to carry out a grenade attack and stayed in prison for two and a half years.

Major reorganization of JK police

Jamu and Kashmir police conducted a major reorganization on Monday, relocating six police officers in the Anantnag District, including the station house officer (SHO) of the Pahargam Police Department. The security issues in JK's Anantnag district have been exacerbated after last month's terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and the decision has raised security issues, which claimed 26 lives, mainly tourists.
