First, SC makes the entire process of judge appointments public

In the first and steps towards judicial transparency and accountability, the Supreme Court has decided to publish the complete process of the Supreme Court and Supreme Court judges on its website.This includes roles assigned to the High Court University, roles and opinions of state and central government, and considerations of the Supreme Court University. From November 9, 2022 to May 5, 2025, the full appointment procedure and the Supreme Court has been uploaded to the High Court.
The Supreme Court said in a press statement issued Monday night that the decision was for “knowledge and public awareness.”
“The proposals approved by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointments as High Court Judges during the period November 9, 2022 to May 5, 2025, including the names, High Court, source – whether from Service or Bar, date of recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium, date of notification by Department of Justice, date of appointment, special category (SC/ST/OBC/Minority/Woman), and whether the candidate is related to any sitting or retired High Court/Supreme Court judges have also uploaded to the Supreme Court's website.”

In addition, the Supreme Court has disclosed candidates regarding the judge's recommendations and whether their families are high court judges or Supreme Court judges.


It further said that the Supreme Court judge's asset statement will also be placed on the website soon. The news report reads, “Asset statements for the judge’s assets that have been received will be uploaded when the current asset statement is received.” In addition, according to the data, the Supreme Court Collegiate Bureau has recommended a total of 29 names, led by former CJI DY CHANDRACHUD and current CJI Sanjiv Khanna, and the judges have been in the government’s trial since November 2022.
