Nurse surgery on woman, infant death

Hyderabad: Two premature babies died Sunday morning at Vijaya Laxmi Hospital in Ibrahim Plant on Sunday morning after an untrained nurse allegedly called for a caesarean section under the guidance of a doctor.
Ibrahim Pratnam police conducted a case against a private gynecologist who worked with Vijaya Laxmi Hospital, which included participants, Langdhi Regional Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) visited the hospital and sealed it.
According to family members, Anusha Reddy, a doctor who is not in the hospital, guides the nurse through WhatsApp video call. The woman, who was a five-month-old pregnancy, arrived at the hospital out of severe labor pains and reportedly suffered severe bleeding during the operation. Both babies were pronounced dead when the doctor arrived at the hospital.
Police said Butti Ganesh, commander from RTC, and Keerthi from Elaminedu village in Ibrahimpatnam, have been married for seven years. After IVF treatment, Keerthi announced her pregnancy in January 2025.
Keerthi has been going to the same hospital for regular checkups for the past five months. Her family said it was six years later that she had been waiting for her pregnancy and she took all the necessary precautions. A month ago, she experienced pain and went to the hospital where she was sent back after getting glucose.
She suffered again at around 4 a.m. Sunday. Her family took her to the hospital after contacting the hospital staff. They claimed that repeated attempts to go to the doctor failed and she joined only via video calls.
Speaking to the media, Keerthi said she was injected with RMP and taken to the hospital. She continued to bleed, and despite repeated questions from the doctor, the nurses kept saying she was on the way. “After my baby was taken away, the doctor came and said they died of blood clots. She did not give me any treatment.”
Her husband and relatives protested outside the hospital, demanding justice and action against doctors and nurses. They blamed the medical staff’s negligence on the tragic deaths of the twins.
Keerthi’s husband Butti Ganesh detailed the ordeal, “About 20 days ago, the doctor suggested stitching to prevent any risk of the fetus slipping down. From that day on, she started bleeding. Although she was only found, she was in pain, and she was in pain, and she was in pain again, and we had consulted again for the scan symptoms, we had consulted, she had returned to the messy person, and our heart was good. On Saturday, she suggested a further scan on Sunday and exacerbated her pain, and we weren’t even sure if she trained the nurse for surgery.
Keerthi was moved to the hospital and staff notified family members that Dr. V. Anusha Reddy did not provide it personally, and Keerthi would treat Keerthi over the phone through remote guidance from the doctor. “When they inserted their hands, there was blood everywhere and the fetus was driven out,” Garnesh said.
