“Everything to support India in its anti-terrorism efforts”: U.S. House Speaker | Indian News

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said the United States will do everything to support India in the fight against terrorism. He calls India a “very important” partner of the United States in many ways.

Speaking at a congressional briefing on Capitol Hill on Monday (local era), Johnson also spoke about the trade deal between India and the United States and expressed hope that trade negotiations will work well between the two countries.

When asked about his message for India, which has been at the receiving end of cross-border terrorism for the past several decades, Mike Johnson said, “Look, we have great sympathy for what's happening over there, and we want to stand with our allies. I think India is a very important partner to us in so many ways. I hope that the trade negotiations will work out well between the two countries. No one asked me About tarriffs, I'm glad. The Trump administration expressed support for the fight against terrorism following the April 22 attack in Jamu and Pahalgam in Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and injured several others.

On April 30, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Foreign Minister Jaishankar and reiterated the U.S. commitment to cooperate with India against terrorism.

U.S. State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce said in a statement that Rubio was saddened by the life of Pahalgam's “terrorist attacks” and encouraged India to work with Pakistan to “relieve tensions” and maintain peace and security in South Asia.

On April 23, U.S. President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed condolences for the deaths in the terrorist attacks in Jamu and Kashmir. Trump condemned Pahalgam's terrorist attack and expressed his full support to India to bring the perpetrators of this “heerful attack” to justice.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in an article on X: “President Donald Trump @ReAldonaldTrump @potus @pm @narendramodi called his greatest condolences to innocent people who lost innocent people in the terrorist attacks, causing the attackers to have a strong attack in the terrorist attacks.
