Jamu review plan officials plan to enhance Amarnath Yatra's facilities

Officials said Tuesday (May 6, 2025) that the authorities in Jamu reviewed a development plan to enhance civic convenience for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
They said the review focused on improving infrastructure and sanitation to ensure a smooth experience for thousands of devotees, and is expected to participate in an annual pilgrimage to the respected 3,880-meter-high Amarnath Cave Shrine located in the Himalayas of South Kashmir.
The 38-day Yatra is scheduled to be from the dual route on July 3, the traditional 48 km Pahalgam route in the Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper Baltal route in the Ganderbar district. The first group of pilgrims will leave Jamu Base Camp on July 2.
A spokesperson said Ramesh Kumar, a division commissioner at Jamu, chaired a meeting to review Yatra's development plan for expanding civic convenience and renovation work at Jamu's YATRA.
He said the meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments of Jamu on Monday (May 5) to discuss the implementation of works determined based on the implementation of the approved work plan.
The spokesman said the department specialist directed regional governments and department heads to float bids as soon as possible.

He said approved regional work includes restoration, renovation and expansion of basic amenities such as electricity, water and toilet facilities in various hotel centers in the area and will be a holy pilgrimage from Katua to Banweil ​​in the Ramba region every year.
The senior official directed the Ministry of Electricity to start work to supply power to Lakhanpur Kathua, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu, as well as the Lodgement Centers and Yatra Camps of Chanderkote Ramban and Illumination and Illumination.
He asked the Jamu Municipal Corporation and the Deputy Commissioner to start the process of working at the Yatra camp in Bhagwati Nagar in Jamu.
The spokesman said the health department was asked to stock medical supplies and prepare ambulances at the Yatra camp and residence center.
He said the Public Works Ministry was asked to take care of installing waterproof hangers and makeshift sheds at the Yatra camp in Bhagwati Nagar. The spokesman said the deputy commissioners of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur and Ramban were asked to monitor the progress of their work with high quality execution and timely completion.
