The skirmish broke out during a march by Kannur Collectorate held by members of the regional MP committee on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The conflict with the police occurred after the inaugural speech by KPCC work chairman T. Siddique.

Police used water cannons to disperse protesters, leading to further confrontation as Congressional activists get closer to police cars. In the ensuing chaos, the government-planned Flex plate installed in front of collectors was torn off by a mixer. Senior Party leaders intervene to control the crowd.

Siddique said at the party that Kerala has become a “narcotics hub” under the LDF government and accused it of being immersed in corruption “from the Chief Minister's Office to the Cliff House Kitchen”.

DCC Chairman Martin George chaired the protests and DCC Secretary Saju delivered a welcome speech.

The march starting at the Jawahar Stadium saw the participation of many Congress workers.
