With the theme of “Super Elf: Cut Black Style”, this year’s fashion wonder not only celebrates costume genius, but also makes a powerful cultural statement against the backdrop of dark blue and golden daffodils.
From the moment guests arrive, the venue exudes symbolic artisticity. The 63,000-square-foot blue carpet is reportedly emphasized by scattered daffodils, cascading floral obstacles, and a device that flickers water and mirrors the hanging flowers above. The metropolis itself becomes a blue and gold wonderland, a lively, breathing style and respectful canvas.

This year's rugs are not only visually fascinating. It tells a story of sustainability and craftsmanship. Kerala-based Design House Neytt is back by Extraweave to the largest stage in fashion, providing eco-conscious, biodegradable carpet for the third consecutive year. The carpet is woven from sisal fibers from Madagascar. 480 craftsmen worked for this for 90 days. Extraweave's Neytt has been curating the Met Gala rug since 2022.
At the beginning of the evening, the dancers performed the eternal anthem “Not High enough Mountain”. Co-chairs Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo were the first to walk on the blue carpet, leading many stylish and edgy attendees to embrace the subject with creative talent. The 2025 exhibition, “Super Elf: Cut Black Style”, was curated by Andrew Bolton and was led by Monica L.
The show pays homage to the excellence and creativity of black clothing from the 18th century to the present. This year is particularly important for Indian fashion enthusiasts. Designers and celebrities from India are better than ever, with Manish Malhotra, Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh making their long-awaited Met Dements debut.
