Karregutta Op enters day 16, another female Maoist kills

Reibull: Another female Maoist shot was the largest counterinsurgency ever, involving 24,000 Javanese along the Karregutta Hills in the border of Chhattisgarh-Telangana, entering its 16th day on Tuesday.
The body of Maoist women and a .303 rifle was found at the scene of the encounter late Monday and suffered Naxal's injury in a two-week counterinsurgency in the lush green hilly area.
During the April 24 operation, the other three Maoists were also women.
Police suspect several major Maoist leaders who may have been killed or injured in the operation.
“The available inputs indicate that several Maoist top leaders were either killed or seriously injured in the ongoing anti-Naxal operation,” a statement released here by the Bastall Police Department said.
A police officer said that due to geographical difficulties, security forces were unable to recover all the bodies of Naxals in the operation.
According to police, CRPF assistant commander Sagar Borade was injured during Sunday's operation and was airlifted to Delhi for treatment on Monday.
His condition is now stable.
In addition, two task forces (STFs) were injured in an IED explosion on Sunday.
Up to seven jawbones have been injured during the IED explosion so far during the surgery.
The anti-Naxal operation, called Mission Sankalp, was launched on April 21 in Karregutta Hills to release an 800-square-kilometer area considered to be the stronghold of Naxal with Maoist influence.
“This is a decisive action” said Bastar Range Inspector General P Sunderraj.
He said that despite hostile terrain and geographical conditions, security forces still carried out anti-Naxal operations with full commitment and determination.
During the operation, hundreds of bunkers and Naxal hiding places have been destroyed.
In addition, thousands of kilograms of explosives and detonators were found in Maoist hiding places and bunkers, an officer said.
Police say senior Maoist leaders have used Interstate Mountains as a safe haven for the past few decades.
Sources said security forces have begun to build camps in the area while advancing towards Karregutta Hills.
The joint anti-Naxal operation includes Jawans (COBRA) from the Regional Reserve Defender (DRG), Bastar Fighter, STF, CRPF and combat battalion.
