Average cash withdrawal per ATM for fiscal 25 years is Rs 1.3 CR

Chennai: Despite the increased use of UPI, the average cash per ATM has increased to Rs 13 crore in FY25 over the past eight years. The states of North India dominate cash dominance.

From Rs 102 crore in fiscal 2017, the average cash per ATM has increased to Rs 130 crore in fiscal 25. The situation of ATM cash allocation has continued to grow since fiscal 2017, prohibiting declines in fiscal 25 due to the impact of Covid.

According to the CMS consumption report, Bihar, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himaal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are the most important states in terms of cash consumption.

Bihar grew 8% in cash withdrawal period in fiscal 25, while New Delhi saw cash withdrawals rise 4%, Uttar Pradesh 4%, Himaal Pradesh 3%, and Chhattisgarh 2%. New Delhi has been in the top five for the past three years.

However, Tripura's cash withdrawal rate fell by 23%, Mizoram fell by 16%, and Kerala had a 14% decline in fiscal 25 years.

The size of tickets for ATM withdrawals has also been increased. The average ticket size (ATS) for ATM extraction in FY25 was Rs 5,658, up 3% year-on-year. In addition, ticket size growth rates are even higher in months such as October 2024, January 2025, February 2025 and March 2025.

By contrast, the ATS for all UPI transactions fell by 8% from Rs 1,603 in H1 2023 to ATS for H1 2024, which accounted for a higher value for transactions despite the increase in UPI adoption in recent years.

According to CMS data, the ATS for person-to-person transactions also fell from Rs 667 to Rs 643 in the same period, a 4% decrease.
