The MK Stalin-led government, which served in Tamil Nadu on May 7, 2021, will enter its fifth year on Wednesday, continuing to focus on next year's parliamentary elections at the height of the fierce second COVID-19 pandemic.
Recalling his journey as chief minister on Tuesday, Stalin said: “On the one hand, we inherited the decade of garbled code from the previous regime. On the other hand, the country retreated under a return ideology like communism. But another challenge is that the coalition government has consistently refused to act with Tamil Nad (The All) and we have successfully acted on the road to progress.
Mr Stalin had his first meeting with editors, senior journalists and owners of various media organizations in Chennai (something attended by several ministers, senior civil servants and police officers) – Mr Stalin said his government had performed well in policy-based rule without moving from its principles or commitment to people in principle, despite the past four years, the scope has increased.
“Our land in Tamil Nadu is built on principles of equality, social justice, equity, fraternity, secularism, linguistic pride, racial rights, national autonomy and federalism. We are moving in these ideal directions,” how the Chief Minister summed up this.
He highlighted the government's flagship plan – Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (Monthly Rights Grant for Women); Vidiyal Payanam (Women's free bus trip); Chief Minister's breakfast plan, pudhumai penn and Tamil Pudhalvan (Monthly grants for select boys and boys who receive higher education); and Naan Mudhalvan Proactive – as evidence for effective governance.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister Thangam Thenarasu (Financial), TRB Rajaa (Industry), Palanivel Thiaga Rajan (Information Technology) (Information Technology), Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi), School Education (School Education) and MP Saminathan (Information and Press), written by famous officials, written by famous officials. Over the past four years, equitable growth has been achieved in their respective sectors.
Consistent progress
The government has recorded consistent year-on-year progress in several sectors, including economic growth (with constant national GDP at constant prices), commodity and electronic commodity exports, employment generation, and social indicators (such as total enrollment). To ensure a balance of regional development, it has taken measures to establish new tidal parks in semi-urban areas and to establish 30 predators industrial parks in various areas, while ensuring major industrial projects in areas such as Perambalur and Thoothukudi.
Responding to the advice and views of senior journalists, Finance Minister T. Udhayachandran said that despite the challenges facing election year, the government is optimistic about achieving the 3% fiscal deficit target. Furthermore, the national education policy is likely to soon reflect the unique policies of Tamil Nadu.
