A senior official said on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) that the Kartarpur corridor in Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of Punjab was closed.

The incident happened after Indian armed forces conducted missile strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) earlier on Wednesday, including Jaish-e-Mohammad storthold in Bahawarpur and Lashkar-eee taiba's base in Muridke.

The Kartarpur Corridor connects the last resting place of Sikh founder Guru Nanak Dev with Pakistan's Darbar Sahib Gurdwara to Dera Baba Nanak Shrine in the Gurdaspur district.

The Qatarpur Corridor has been suspended and the official said pilgrims will not allow visits to Darbar Sahib Gurdwara on Wednesday.

The pilgrim asked to return

Many pilgrims arrived at the Qatarpur Corridor on Wednesday morning to pray in Gurdwara, Pakistan, but asked them to return.

The Kartarpur Corridor opened on November 9, 2019 on the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev. Indian pilgrims of all faiths can make a visa-free trip to the historic Gurdwara in Kartarpur, the last resting place for Guru Nanak Dev.

Under the agreement signed between India and Pakistan, 5,000 pilgrims can cross neighboring countries every day to comply in the historic Gurdwara.

Two weeks after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir, a military strike took place earlier on Wednesday, killing 26 people, mainly tourists, in the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22.
