Nighttime Mobile Veterinary Service Launched in Kannur

The livestock department launched a nighttime veterinary service under the Kerala program in Kannur on Tuesday (6 May 2025), enabling animal owners to obtain treatment in 1962.
The program is run from 6pm to 5am, with three new mobile veterinary units added to the Thalassery, Taliparamba and Koothuparamba neighborhoods.
The vehicles were handed over to senior veterinarians in their respective neighborhoods by regional livestock officer Dr. Om Ajitha. Each unit includes a veterinary doctor and driver-companion. After receiving the call, the nearest unit will be dispatched. The treatment fee for cattle is Rs 450 and for dogs and cats is Rs 900.
These additions are part of 47 mobile clinics approved in Kerala. Kannur already owns units in Iritty and Payyanur under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Program. Dr. Ajita said the service was expanded in response to positive feedback from dairy farmers.
The vehicle handover was held at the District Veterinary Hospital in the presence of Chief Veterinary PK Padmaraj, Deputy Director Anil Kumar and Project Officer KV Santhosh.
