Utah Mammoth Unveils the NHL's Latest Identity After Fan Lead Reinvention

Owners Ryan and Ashley Smith highlighted the collaborative nature of the process.

The name pays homage to the prehistoric mammoth, which roamed 10,000 years ago, including the complete skeleton excavated in Huntington Canyon in 1988.New identity features Mammoth logo, unique jersey and “Tusks Up” mottoThe team's Mammoth logo revealed Wednesday that there is a stylized Mammoth head that contains several hidden elements, including the Wasage Mountains, Utah silhouette, negative space “M” and a curved tusk similar to Utah.
“There is evidence that the herd of cattle were accused of mammoths at 25 miles per hour, which is comparable to the speed that the NHL's fastest skaters have achieved,” the team noted in a press release.
The Utah Mammoth jersey will feature the Mammoth logo on the family sweater and the state name on the road uniform, and join the Carolina Hurricane to mix the logo and text markings.

Initially, names like Yeti were favored by fans and players, but the legal barriers to Yeti Coolers LLC forced the team to compete. The last vote included the Mammoth, Outlaws and Utah Hockey Club, whose name appears as “Obvious Favorites.”

The team confirmed that trademark conflicts had been resolved, including conversations with the supportive Colorado Mammoth (NLL).
Next season's Mammoth Mascot will debut in home games, and Delta Center already has merchandise available.
