Civil defense simulation exercises will continue in Maharashtra for 4-5 days

Mumbai: A simulation exercise was conducted at Cross Maidan in southern Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon to simulate the air strikes. The team of civil defense, fire brigade and medical staff is eager to save the “injured person” from the sirens. The simulation exercise in Mumbai matches the rain. Similar simulation exercises will be repeated in the states to improve the response to the war, officials said.
Civil defense simulation exercises were conducted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and other railway stations in Mumbai to assess emergency preparedness of the Central Railway (CR). In addition, Western Railway (WR) also conducted simulation exercises at various railway sites in the Mumbai sub-district.
Exercises include fire safety programs, air strike responses and casualty rescue drills. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a simulation exercise at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).
Power outages were observed in Anushakti Nagar in Mumbai to simulate power outages in aerial threat scenarios. JJ Hospital and Sion Hospital emergency teams are preparing for part of the exercise to simulate the influx of trauma.
The state government on Tuesday identified eight vulnerable areas that could be made by Pakistan in the situation in the war. Eight regions include Mumbai, Thana, Palgar, Ratnagiri, Regad, Sinddoug, Nashik and Pune. Among them, Mumbai, Ulan in the Raigad region and Tarapur in the Pargar region are classified as highly sensitive locations. Since then, the State Department of Interior has asked all eight district collectors to conduct simulation exercises at critical facilities and venues in their respective jurisdictions with the help of the NCC and deputy controllers of the Civil Defense Forces.
Maharashtra Civil Defense Forces Director Prabhat Kumar said they conducted a simulation exercise in Mumbai Cross Maidan, including Mumbai, following the instructions of the central government. “We conducted a simulation exercise and reported on it. Based on the feedback we received, we will discuss improvements. After today, we will continue this simulation exercise, especially the power outage drill for the next four to five days,” Mr Kumar said.
He also said people in Mumbai will be informed of the power outage exercise.
