A court in Sambhal issued a notice on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, who allegedly made remarks about “fighting the Indian state itself.” The Court of the other Magistrates (ADJ-II) AARTI FAUJDAR issued a notice on the complaint filed by local Simran Gupta.
At the inauguration of the new headquarters in Delhi on January 15, Mr. Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) (RSS) of “capturing every institution of the country”.

The complainant, Simran Gupta, is the president of the Hindu Shakti Dal. “Rahul Gandhi's statement has seriously damaged the sentiment of people across the country. I had earlier contacted the regional magistrate judges and SPs in Sambhal, but did not take any action. As a result, I filed the case on January 23.”
The court earlier asked Congressional leaders to appear on April 4, and later extended the date until May 7 to submit their response. A junior attorney seeks a new date and the court accepted the new appointment with a hearing on June 16 due to his attorney's absence on Wednesday.
