Also known as suicide or kamikaze drones, these wandering ammunitions were developed by a private company based in Bangalore, which is a joint venture with an Israel-based military technology company.

Wandering ammunition is a fully autonomous drone system (UAS) that can install warheads inside the fuselage to locate, acquire and strike targets specified by operators for high precision performance.

A few years ago, in Air India, the two companies signed an agreement to establish working relationships and cooperate in phased production of UAS in India.

Israeli companies provide technology transfer through subsequent agreements. Later that year, the Indian army signed a contract with the Bangalore company to purchase more than 100 of them.

This is the first time that the Indian armed forces have used this technology heavily in military operations to target cross-border terrorist camps.
