Drone hits power line and explodes near Gujarat India-Pakistan border

An unidentified drone reportedly collided with a high-voltage power transmission line, attracting the attention of border security agencies, and exploded near the Indian-Pakistan border in the Hafda area of Gujarat in early Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports from local authorities and security personnel, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in a remote area of the Hafda Desert, a sensitive area as it is close to international borders. It is believed that when the drone hit the live wire, it has been flying low, causing a loud explosion to be heard for several kilometers.
No casualties or injuries yet. However, due to the impact on the transmission infrastructure, the nearby power supply was briefly interrupted. Officials from the Gujarat Electricity Commission were sent to the site to assess and repair the losses.
The Border Security Force (BSF), local police and CIA have conducted joint investigations to determine the origin of the drone and whether the incident was accidental or involved in cross-border infiltration. The forensic team is scanning the wreckage of drones (UAVs), while airspace surveillance data is under review.
“This incident is taken seriously. Given the intensification of security programs along the Western Front, we are exploring all possibilities,” a senior police official said.
The Khavda area is located near Rann in Kutch, and the BSF regularly monitors cross-border activities. In recent months, vigilance on the western border of India has increased after the ceasefire violations along Operation Sindor and Line of Control.
