Rohit Sharma slams Indian commentators, calling them agenda-driven

Rohit noted that Australian cricket commentators are more attractive and interested in the game than cricket commentators in India.
Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s comments and the status quo of cricket news. He believes that the focus is more on causing controversy and sensation than on insightful analysis of the game. According to Rohit, this approach has done a detriment to true cricket enthusiasts who are eager to deepen their understanding of the sport.
Rohit highlights the contrast between India and other cricket countries, especially Australia, where he observes higher interest and engagement among commentators. The 38-year-old cricketer highlighted the standard gap between Indian comments and other countries.
Rather than enjoying and evaluating the game itself, Rohit scolded Indian Broadcaster for their tendency to focus too much on specific outstanding players and explore their own personal lives. He felt that this deprived the true spirit of cricket and did not provide the fans with the in-depth coverage they wanted.
“You guys focus on causing controversy, blowing up news. The quality of news has dropped. Earlier, the conversation would have revolved around cricket. Now, it’s all about getting perspective, liking and getting more people to read your articles. Almost never wrote your articles.
“When the game starts, we’ll watch it on TV. But, please listen to the comments from the comments these days. When we go to Australia, we hear their comments and the quality varies greatly. Here, it’s really disappointing – I’m honest. It seems they just want to pick out a player and keep talking about him or her, which is very disappointing. It’s disappointing.
“There are a lot of people who want to know the game. Why are they real cricket lovers. I know there is a belief now that fans want Masala, but some people want to know the game. For example, they want to know someone’s form tendency, what he wants, what he wants to do, they don’t want to.
During his captainship of Rohit, India faces a difficult journey in Australia in 2024-25. Unfortunately, news from inside the locker room leaked, causing frustration within the leadership team. India’s long-term test dominance gradually faded as they lost their borders – Gawasca Trophy 1-3, failing to reach the World Exam Championship Final for the first time. In addition, last year, India painted 0-3 at the first time in the home series.
