86-year-old British tourist was killed and his wife was seriously injured after being cut off by a car in India’s tourist hotspot

A British tourist was killed in India when a car lost control “driving in a rash and negligent manner” and threw it into him and his wife.
Harish Solanki, 86, was knocked down in the picturesque town of Candolim on Friday, local media reported.
His 81-year-old wife, Chandrakanta, remains in critical condition after being injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
Driver Vicky Jain, 48, was arrested after hitting the couple with a rental car, which is said to have caused serious damage to the incident.
Police said he was walking through Candolin to nearby Kalangant when he turned to the wrong side of the driveway and hit the couple.
Authorities learned that the couple had just left their hotel and were hit on the side of the road around 10 a.m. Friday.
Solanki died that night at the hospital while his wife was treated at the medical center but was still in critical condition as of Sunday.

The incident reportedly took place near the fisherman’s cover restaurant on Friday morning.
Both were taken to the Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Cambolilin and then to the Candolin Primary Health Centre.
Police have contacted the families of British nationals and it is understood that an investigation has been conducted.
The driver was identified as 48-year-old Vicky Omprakash Jain, Daijiworld, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, D.C. Report.
After the complaint, he was arrested by Carlanger police.
