3-year-old boy suffered serious injury when traveler was hit by a car trailer after illegally setting up camp at school sports field

A three-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by a car towed a caravan after a group of travelers illegally set up camp on a school sports field.
Yesterday afternoon, about ten caravans arrived at the Branford School at a secondary school in the Branford Forum, Dorset.
The boy is believed to have been hit when a caravan untied from the car yesterday afternoon.
He was taken to the hospital by air ambulance, where he was still in a serious but stable state.
The accident occurred in the school field, about 4.30 pm.
Police said the collision involved a white-seat Leon car, towed a caravan and a child pedestrian.
Locals say this happens when the wagon is not locked.
Cordons were established to allow emergency services to respond to incidents and to conduct inquiries on site.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for suspected driving crime and intent to cause serious bodily injury.
The group left the school less than 24 hours after leaving the school today.

Sergeant Mike Burt of the Dorset Police Department’s Serious Collision Investigation Team said: “Our idea is very important because the young boy was seriously injured and his family at this time.
“We are continuing to investigate the full situation of this incident and if you have not contacted the police, I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with any related dashboard or other lenses, please contact us.
“We appreciate incidents like this, involving young children will have a significant impact on the local community, and as we continue to inquire and provide assurances, the presence of policing nearby will increase.

The school issued a statement Thursday night saying there was an “event” at the school, but there was no more details about what happened.
Principal Sally Wilson told parents yesterday: “Some of you may know that an incident happened on our website tonight. As a result, the entrance to the Leisure Center is closed tomorrow and police will be present overnight and tomorrow.
“The pedestrian school at Blandford school will not be accessible through the gate next to Block One.
“If you usually drive to school, drive the car down and stay away from the scene, so we’re going to make Milldown Road as free as possible.”
The lessons will continue as normal, she added.
“We apologize for the destruction of the leisure center clients due to the on-site emergency of the school,” the Blandford Leisure Center said Thursday.
