24-year-old IB official found dead near railway tracks in Kerala, family seeking investigation

On Monday, a 24-year-old Intelligence Agency (IB) official M Megha was found dead on the railroad tracks of Thiruvananthapuram Chackai. Her family filed a complaint with IB and Kerala police, urging an investigation into her death. The TOI report said that despite police suspected suicide, her family objected to the claim and requested a thorough investigation.

Police suspect suicide, family disagrees

Megha was attacked by Jayanthi Janata Express while walking next to the track, according to police. The train’s locomotive pilot reportedly saw her talking on the phone before she jumped in front of the train. Authorities believe emotional distress may drive her to take this step when breaking up with her colleague. However, her family insisted that she had no reason to be near the railroad tracks and suspected a foul.

The last moment of investigation

Megha works in the immigration department at Thiruvananthapuram Airport and just completed her night shift before the incident. Her father, Madhusoodhnan, said she has been in a romantic relationship with colleagues since her training and has worked with IB for only 13 months. He questioned why she was on the rails and asked for an investigation into her last call.

Police analyze mobile phone

Police have ordered a detailed investigation and will send Mega’s damaged cell phone for forensic analysis to determine her last communication. Further inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause of its death.
