UP CM Yogi Adityanath announces two initiatives with support from the World Bank

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held World Bank President Ajay Banga in Lucknow on Friday (9 May 2025) and launched two programs “UpClases” and “AI Pragya” related to agricultural innovation and digital transformation.
Mr. Adhianath expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for its continued support, praising the international organization’s role in helping Uttar Pradesh, bringing it closer to its vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy. “The whole world believes that Uttar Pradesh is not an obstacle but a growth engine for India. I would like to express my gratitude to the World Bank for participation in the Averis project, which will help farmers in a big way and significantly increase agricultural output in the state.”
The event marks the launch of two World Bank-backed programs and promotes initiatives to revolutionize agriculture in 28 regions of the 28 Bondelkhand and Powavantan regions, thereby increasing productivity and promoting advanced, technology-based agriculture. Similarly, AI Pragya aims to build a strong foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) talent by training one million young people in Uttar Pradesh, providing them with the digital skills they need to thrive in emerging technology fields.
The project will be implemented in districts of Basti, Maharajganj, Ballia, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Sant Ravidas Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Banda, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Mahoba and Chitrakoot.
“AI Pragya will not only unlock new ways of work for youth, but will also improve the technical efficiency in core sectors such as government services, agriculture, education and health care,” Adityanath said.
