A series of cash thefts have been reported in Bihar’s Chhapra district. A staggering Rs 7 million was stolen from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) ATM cash van in the Nagar area near Thana Chowk. The theft occurred when an employee of the ATM Cash van collected cash from an ICICI bank branch.

How does theft happen?

The van is filled with PNB’s cash and unguarded, allowing the thieves to take advantage of the situation and steal a large amount of Rs 7 million.

Raj Kishore Singh, the state police department of Sadar-wide, said the incident occurred near Hathua market within the jurisdiction of the town police department. The amount stolen was collected from a branch of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) and kept it in a cash van, and the employee then charged an additional Rs 2.8 lakh from the ICICI bank branch.

After returning, staff claimed that the lock of the van had been broken and was missing Rs 7 million.

Investigation is underway

Police detained four cash van employees – two custodians, a security guard and a driver – for inquiries. Although they have not been formally arrested, Singh points out that their actions are “suspicious”.

“Under safety protocols, drivers must always stay in the van,” SDPO Singh said.However, in this case, the driver also entered the bank, which raised questions. ”

CCTV footage in the area showed a suspicious car parked behind the Cash van during the theft. Authorities are working to track the vehicle and identify any potential suspects involved in the robbery.

Special team formation

A special investigation team has been formed to investigate the matter and the unknown personnel have been registered at the Chhapra town police station.

“At first glance, this incident seems suspicious. We are investigating from all angles. Under what circumstances, under what circumstances, such a large number of disappearances are being thoroughly examined.”

“The cash van belongs to Hitachi, which provides ATM cash replenishment and collection services in the area. We also ask their officials to join the investigation,” he said.

Police officials said the case will be resolved soon and multiple potential clients have been hunted down.
