Officials from a committee visited the homes of three defendants in Hyderabad and informed their families. SIT investigators called them on Sunday, May 11.
“Sit instructed the three defendants to appear in front of investigators in Vijayawada. The defendants have been absconding for the past few days, with police searching their homes at different locations in Vijayawada and Hyderabad,” an officer said on Saturday.
The leaders of the YSR Congress party allegedly encouraged new liquor policies, floated new brands during the YSRCP rules, received kickbacks from brewery companies and caused huge losses to the government.
SIT has questioned former MP VV Vijaya Sai Reddy, Rajampet MP PV Midhun Reddy and others in the alcohol scam.
They arrested then-IT consultant Kessireddy Raja Shekhar Reddy, the so-called main conspirator in the scam, his personal assistant Dilip Kumar and another defendant Chanaky. All of them were sent to judicial custody.
