According to the State News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday that Beijing supports India and Pakistan’s ceasefire efforts and is “willing to continue playing a constructive role” in the process.Wang commented during a call with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, adding that Beijing remains concerned about any escalation in the conflict, given that it has borders with both countries.
Wang said in a separate call with India’s national security adviser Ajit Doval that he hopes both sides will “keep calm and restrain … and avoid escalation of the situation” after reportedly breaching the ceasefire deal reached on Saturday.
Xinshiya quoted Wang as saying: “China supports India and Pakistan to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire through consultations.”
