Hyderabad IT Specialist takes Rs 2.5 rupees CR Mumbai apartment as bribe: CBI

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Income Tax (Exemption) Commissioner Jeevan Lal Lavidiya received an apartment worth Rs 250 crore in a bribe in Mumbai. He was one of five people the CBI arrested on Saturday.

According to CBI officials, Lavidiya took bribes in her appeal with NDW Development Corporation LLP. The apartment belongs to Aviation Hotels, a group company of NDW Development Corporation LLP.

Lavidiya registered the apartment under the name of Benami, a resident of Khammam area Dandela Venkateswarlu, and kept the deed of sale in his detention. Lavidiya is a native of Khammam district. The property registration was conducted through the intermediary on behalf of Lavidiya. Lavidiya also serves as Income Tax Commissioner in the Office of the Director of Income Tax in Hyderabad (Appeal, Nos. 8 and 7).

According to sources, Ladiviya was also dealing with a taxation appeal pertaining to Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Mumbai, and demanded `1.2 crore as a bribe from Viral Kartilal Mehta, DGM (taxation), Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Mumbai, to decide the matter in favour of Shapoorji Pallonji Infrastructure Gujarat Private Ltd., Vadodara. The company has since said it was unaware of the deal.

“The SP Group has been aware of serious allegations of misconduct against an employee of a subsidiary of our group company. The alleged behavior is not aware of the group and has not been approved. In fact, this violates the value and policies of the group in its operations,” the company said in a statement Saturday.

Lavidiya’s middlemen have collected 1.5 million in the deal. The amount of bribes collected was deposited into Landa Varahalu’s bank account. A group of 7 million drivers should have been delivered to him soon, but the CBI received a tip, which led to the arrest of the defendant.

In the bribery case, the CBI conducted a case against Lavidiya against Natta Veera Naga Sri Ram Gopal of Viskhakapatnam; Sairam Palisetty of Srikakulam; Rayapureddy Narendra, accountant from Hyderabad’Dandela Venkateswarlu; Landa Varahalu of Visakhapatnam; Shapoorji Pallonji Group of Mumbai, DGM (Tax) virus Kantilal Mehta; Sajida Majhar Hussain Shah, Chembur of Mumbai; Prakash Shambaji Pawar. Chembur, Mumbai, NDW Development Corporation LLP, Mumbai; Ventura Securities Co., Ltd., Thana, Maharashtra nitin nitin anandarao shitole, Mumbai; Hemantkumar Rajendrakumar Shah, Ahmedabad; and Shapoorji Pallonji Infrastructure Gujarat Pvt. Limited, Vadodara.
