On the evening of Sunday (May 11, 2025), drones suspected of launching from international borders were found in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, prompting the government to enforce strict power outages. Residents of the city are advised to stay indoors and turn off the lights.

Drone activity was discovered the day after India and Pakistan’s knowledge of the ceasefire along the border. Bamer collector Tina Dabi reminded people of “incoming drones” in a message posted on social media platforms, while police officers took to the streets to ask those who returned home after closing the shops to turn off the lights of their vehicles.

The regional government refuted the report of a drone shot down by the National Defense Forces near Bamer. “These reports are actually incorrect. The regional government completely denies all the rumors all the rage on social media,” Ms. Darby said.

On Sunday night, the power outage was a precautionary measure in Jaisalmer, Sriganganagar and other border areas of the state due to a violation of Pakistan’s understanding. Alarms along the border are also kept in effect.

The western region of Rajasthan resumed normal activities and the market reopened on Sunday. Debris of a drone was found in the village of Bhurtiya in Bamer in the morning, while objects in the sky of Sriganganagar and Anupgarh were neutralized by the Indian Defense Forces and airborne on Saturday night.

There is no power outage in Jodbur, but schools and universities will be closed on Monday and exams have been postponed. The power outage order in Hanumangal was cancelled, but can be restarted if there is a red alarm.

The Northwest Railway resumed train services operated from Jaisalmer and Barmer on Sunday, which were earlier cancelled or rescheduled and their routes were reduced. Flight operations at Jodbur, Kishaga and Bikaner airports are still suspended.
