Up to 25 nursing professionals are honored for their service ahead of the annual International Nurse Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale.
These professionals include nurses and senior teachers in nursing colleges in the country. Mr. Mahalingam said he initiated the service from Sankara Nethralaya, managing director of healthcare training, said the Nursing Excellence Award is designed to recognize outstanding nursing professionals from government and private hospitals.
V. Kanakasabai is the former dean of the Madras Medical College and former bureaucrat R. Palaniyandi distributed the award. “As health care continues to evolve, the firm presence of nurses remains the cornerstone of compassionate care,” said Mr Mahalingam. “Nurses are the heartbeat of our health care system.”
