Plum began to cooler than usual in Andhra Pradesh, with temperatures lower than normal

While May is usually the state’s peak summer conditions, the month of this year has begun as rain and thunderstorms have lowered the temperature during the day.

Many radio stations in the state have been continuously recording below the daily temperature since May 1, and according to data available from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature at these sites deviates from the normal temperature from the maximum temperature of the normal temperature. No heat waves have been observed so far in May.

In Rayalaseema, the daytime temperature has not crossed the 42°Celsius Mark since May 1 to May 11, which has been recorded only twice, and again on May 4 in Nandyal and Kurnool on May 5.

In this case, IMD predicted thunderstorms and gusts accompanied by lightning and gusts in three areas of Rayalaseema, North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh until May 18.

On May 15, 16 and 17, rain-to-moderate rainfall is expected to be held in many parts of the state, as it is due to the north-south ditch from Marathwada to the Gulf of Mannar, the Gulf of Mexico, across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

Although the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala on May 27, the state’s monsoon can be expected to be four to seven days from then on until its normal date. According to the IMD, the monsoon usually crosses Kerala around June 1.

The southwest monsoon begins to strike and it takes four to seven days to reach Andhra Pradesh. Typically, starting around June 4, the monsoon covers the entire state before June 11 or 13, IMD said S. Stella director Amaravati said.

However, she added that because the state has a long coastline, many factors, such as wind patterns or cyclone conditions (if any) may promote or delay the onset of the monsoon. “Once it starts in Kerala, the exact date will be known,” she said.

Although the onset of the monsoon usually means reducing heat, temperatures may remain higher even during June and July, IMD, Amaravati, senior scientist S. Karunasagar, added that in 2024, Heatwaves were observed in those two months.
