Shocking footage of the New York Highway principal opening fire on the lost food delivery driver has been released, and he hit the man after trying to drive away when he was lost and seeking instructions.
John J. Reilly III, 48, is an elected official in the town of Chester and a federally licensed gun dealer, the center of a criminal investigation into law enforcement and what town officials say is shocking and ignorant violence.
A young man has been doing his best to provide food for Doordash, as he barely knew when he drove into the country driveway for help.
Minutes later, he was bleeding after being shot while trying to leave Reilly’s driving.
At around 9:50 p.m. Friday, May 2, the 24-year-old delivery driver recently moved to Middletown and found himself lost himself in the dark, winding back roads of Chester, about 60 miles north of New York City.
His cell phone battery died, leaving him without any GP, and the man decided to knock on the door of a nearby house for help.
According to New York State Police, the driver eventually arrived at Riley’s home.
What happened next was captured on the doorbell camera footage, and is now part of the police investigation. A town official described it as “looking unsettling.”

Reilly armed to the door and could yell at the driver to leave on the videotape.
The deliveryman turned to comply and returned to the Toyota Corolla parked in the driveway.
The video saw Riley yelling “Go!” and the warning shot turned on. Before relaxing in at least two rounds, one of the rounds ripped the victim’s car and entered his body.

Incredibly, the injured man managed to drive home, where he collapsed and was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center.
He underwent emergency surgery and is now expected to have a second surgery. Authorities say the harm is not fatal but potentially life-changing.

Reilly released a $250,000 bail despite the graphic nature of the incident.
