Drugs like Wegovy, Mounjaro and Ozempic are found to have preventive quality that goes beyond weight loss benefits.

Israeli scientists say these drugs, also known as GLP-1S, may be as effective as 41% more than losing weight alone in preventing obesity-related cancers, and can also help prevent other types of cancer.

This is because British researchers are planning a major trial to see if the drugs can provide new “weapons” in the fight against cancer speed.

In the case of any cancer symptoms, they can be the same as statins to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

“This can be very exciting news for patients at high risk for obesity-related cancers, and perhaps even those with other cancers,” said Tel Aviv-based researcher Yael Wolff Sagy.

“When we compared the risk of surgery with patients using weight loss medications, we found it stayed the same – even if the surgical patients gained a lot of weight.

“When we considered the difference in weight loss, we found that jabs were 41% more effective in preventing cancer.

‘This suggests that there is another mechanism, that jabs are beyond simple weight loss.

“We believe that this effect may come from the reduced inflammatory quality of GLP-1. But of course, this kind of research cannot be sure of this mechanism. ”

Professor Mark Lawler of Queens University of Belfast said it was an observational study and therefore caution was needed, but added that fat stings could be “transformative” in preventing cancer.
