Port police arrested a man in a case related to a call answered at Kochi Naval Base, trying to know the location of the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant last Friday.
The arrested person was identified as a 35-year-old Kozhikode. He was arrested from Kozhikode. According to police sources, the defendant claimed to be receiving psychiatric treatment, although this is yet to be confirmed.
He has been booked in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section for imitation and cheating on the Official Secret Act. The allegations under the Official Secrets Act are non-bailable.
According to the FIR, the caller identified himself as Raghavan and claimed to be calling in the Prime Minister’s Office. Port police were alerted shortly after receiving the call around 9.15 a.m.
