Police said a Congress worker was killed by Maoists in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Sunday (May 11, 2025).
The victim was identified as Naga Bhandari, who operates a public distribution system (PDS) store. Six months ago, his brother was also killed by Maoists six months ago, according to Chhattisgarh chief minister and senior parliamentary leader Bhupesh Baghel.

Police Department police said Naga Bhandari went to Lingapur to attend a social event and was murdered by an unidentified Maoist around 11.30 p.m. [Bijapur] Jitendra Kumar Yadav. “After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family,” he said.
“Advertising-oriented government.”
Mr. Bagher slammed the state’s BJP government in his post on X because he did not protect tribal life, including congressional workers. “In October last year, Naga Bhandari’s younger brother, former Sarpanch of Marudabaka and Congress worker Tirupati Bhandari were also brutally murdered by the Naxalite. On the one hand, in the so-called “Sushasan Tihaar, Naxalite eliminated Naxalite’s claim. [good governance festival, an ongoing public outreach programme]”, on the other hand, the Naxals are killing innocent tribes. The advertising-oriented government has completely failed to ensure the safety of the tribes,” his post reads.

This year, including Naga Bhandari, Maoists have killed at least 10 civilians in the Bastari region, including seven areas, including Bijapur. Police said 68 civilians were allegedly killed by Maoists in the area last year.
Police said in a statement on the murder of Naga Bhandari that there were reports of Maoists murdering some villagers in Kanchal and Meenagatta within the conservative police station. Waiting for more details.
