Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday morning and discussed various issues with the country in the context of the India-Pak conflict and how the state can remain vigilant in response to any situation.
The Chief Minister is said to have asked the Governor to clear documents related to the appointment of Raj Bhavan’s pending information commissioner. Interestingly, a few hours after the CM’s meeting order was appointed as the four information specialists.
Rumors have been saying that the governor has been applying for documents because some of the proposed names have political backgrounds and cannot be cleared. CM is said to believe that those selected have news experience and their work is also related to the media and is not political. Industry Minister D Sridhar Babu also accompanied the Chief Minister.
Mr Reddy also informed the governor’s government of steps to provide comprehensive relief and support to citizens returning from the border area through Telangana Bhawan in New Delhi. Telugu students and others want to go home temporarily because of tensions on the border.
The government made arrangements in Telangana Bhavan, New Delhi, and they were later transferred to their respective locations in Telangana. As of now, a total of 162 people have arrived in Telangana Bhawan, including 56 people from various institutions of Jamu & Kashmir and 106 from Punjab.
Among them, after receiving the necessary help, 130 people have left their hometowns. Resident Commissioner Gaurav Uppal said after reviewing the arrangements and interacting with the students that the rest will be placed in Telangana Bhawan and will leave in due course.
During the interaction, many students communicated that their institution asked them to return to campus as the situation in the border areas showed signs of improvement. However, most of them expressed willingness to visit their homes first and return to the institution once the situation was completely stable.
Mr Uppal contacted the relevant university authorities and urged them to promote online courses temporarily. These agencies responded positively and agreed to expand this support. Some final year students also communicated that they intend to wait a few more days before making a decision, Mr Uppal guaranteed full cooperation from the Telangana government and encouraged them to stay in Telangana Bhawan when needed.
