AAI resumes flights from closed airports

Hyderabad: Flight operations at certain airports suspended due to border security will resume soon, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) said on Monday. Affected airports include Chamu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot.
Following AAI consultation, Air India said it is gradually working to restart flights to and from affected cities. The airline has asked passengers to continue to pay attention to the update as their team works to resume normal operations.
Air India will resume flights to and from Chamu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot.
Indigo has begun to restore its services in a phased manner. According to its recommendations, the airline will resume operations on its own from May 12. “Our team is working hard to ensure a smooth, safe and seamless travel experience,” the statement said.
Indigo has restarted flights from Delhi to Jamu, Chandigarh and Amritsar. However, on Monday, there were no flights from Hyderabad to any of these destinations.
However, Indigo said flights to and from Jamu, Chandigarh, Lehl, Srinagar and Rajkot were cancelled on May 13.
Airlines officials said operations are being resumed in stages and flights from Hyderabad will also begin in the next few days. They ask passengers to check their website for real-time updates to their schedules.
However, Indigo’s website has already booked flights from Hyderabad starting from 13 May 2025. According to the schedule visible on the airline portal, there are six flights to Amritsar, seven flights to Srinagar, four to Jamu, and two to Jamu to Hyderabad tomorrow.
Although the process of restarting the flight has begun, mature operations may take several days to return to normal. Passengers are advised to update through the airline’s official communications website before heading to the airport.
