French film star Brigitte Bardot has defended the actors who “catch a girl’s bottom” the day before Gérard De Pardieu will get his verdict on his sexual assault trial.

Depardieu, 76, appeared in more than 200 film and television series, faces allegations of sexually assaulting two women during the filming of the 2021 film – something he denied.

Monte Cristo actor Earl has been accused of misconduct by about 20 women, but this is the first case to conduct a trial.

Ms. Bardot, 90, also defended French actor and director Nicolas Bedos, who sexually assaulted two women in October 2024.

The famous French actress Anouk Grinberg also starred in the film, who publicly supported the plaintiff, claiming that during the filming, depardieu usually made “despicable remarks.” She accused the producer of intentionally “hiring abusers.”

Charlotte Arnould, the alleged victim, claims she was raped and sexually assaulted by Depardieu in August 2018.

A source working with the Paris prosecutor said, “A requested that Gérard DePardieu be transferred to the departmental criminal court for trial through digital infiltration and sexual assault be tried for rape from August 7 to 13, 2018.”

The investigation has been going on for a full six years, including CCTV footage from Depardieu, which had sexually acted on Arnion MS in August 2018.

Carine Durrieu-Diebolt, Ms. Arnould’s lawyer, said the trial request was “the result of a long-term investigation, which allowed elements to be collected that proved my client’s words.”

Ms Durrieu-Diebolt added: “It was a huge step for her, full of hope and she awaited the order of the investigative judge to end the investigation.”

Ms. Arnoud’s complaint was initially dismissed, but then reopened after further evidence emerged.
