Businesswoman loses Rs 5.3 lakh in fake deal

Hyderabad: A businesswoman was deceived to invest in a fake transaction plan, resulting in a loss of Rs 53.2 lakh. The 41-year-old victim from Saroornagar was attracted by the claims of a man named Pranjal Kumar, who made a claim called Pranjal Kumar in YouTube ads to guide viewers in stock trading to make huge profits.

She believed the claim and she joined a WhatsApp group where she saw screenshots shared by group members who claimed they had won Bonanzas through the deal. A man named Keshav also provided the group’s investment skills. She started investing, and one of the assistants, Riddhi, helped her throughout the deal.

Riddhi advises her to download the app for transactions and seek out the victim’s Aadhaar, Pan card and phone number details. After registration, the victim began to invest, with amounts ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

Later, she was introduced to an “upgrade” plan that promised to double its profits. Before the registration upgrade, the victim asked for evacuation and Riddhi helped her withdraw Rs 2 million. She invested more, but did not make any further profits. When she asked them about further evacuation, there was no response.

The victim filed a complaint with the Rachakonda Cybercrime Ministry, saying she invested Rs 55,25,000 but received only Rs 2 million. A case was registered under the IT Act, which was related to the loss of Rs 53,25,000 and an investigation was initiated.
