CPI state secretary said Modi must apologize to Trump’s remarks about the Indian-Pakistan ceasefire.

K. Ramakrishna, state secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue a public apology to the United States after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed: “This is because my war on India-Pakistan has stopped.”

Mr Ramakrishna said in a statement that 1.4 billion Indian population bowed their heads in shame due to Trump’s reckless remarks. “Why is Mr. Modi silent about Mr. Trump’s statements, which is humiliating in nature?” he asked, “Is there anything more shameful than this?

He also criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for repeatedly praising Mr. Modi even though the U.S. president claimed that the Prime Minister succumbed to pressure. “Will Mr. Naidu dare to say that Mr. Trump’s remarks are incorrect, and the Indian government’s independent decision to withdraw the situation with Pakistan?” he asked.

Ramakrishna mentioned the Shimla Agreement, reminding you that former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh clearly stated that there is no need for third-party mediation on the India-Pakistan issue, and such issues should only be resolved in both directions. He demanded a special parliamentary meeting to be convened immediately and a comprehensive debate on the India-Pakistan conflict and the statements of the US president.
