Pollachi sexual assault case: CM Stalin of Tamil Nadu announces Rs 2.5 lakh per person

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has issued instructions to the authorities to grant Rs 2.5 lakh to each survivor in Pollachi’s sexual assault case. A Mahira Court in Coimbatore found all nine defendants convicted in the case and sentenced them to life imprisonment Tuesday (May 9, 2025).
The official release of the Tamil Nadu government says that the compensation for each of the eight survivors is for each of the eight survivors.

The affected people have justice. It added that the courage of these women to fight for justice is commendable.
Recalling the May 13 sentence in the Pollachi sexual assault case, sentenced life imprisonment to nine offenders, and public response in this regard, the state argues that such severe punishment will provide a great warning to those involved in such crimes.
It said: “The Tamil Nadu government has been taking various initiatives to ensure the safety of women and empower them in various ways the stance of power.” The TN government has also proposed legislation to amend central laws to impose severe punishments on those who commit crimes against women. Such amendments allow severe punishment for those who commit crimes against women, the press release said.
